2020 GCSE Results Day

GCSE Results Day 2020

Despite the immense challenges presented to schools in this unprecedented year in terms of A level results last week and GCSE results today, I can honestly say that I am immensely proud of every single student. The results, which have been issued today (although some are to be finalised next week) have been a true and accurate reflection of the students’ natural ability, incredible work ethic and honest determination. They have been magnificently supported by their teachers and other staff, and I am extremely grateful to them too.

Our headline figures for 9-5 and 9-4 (in English and maths) are commensurate with previous years and would almost certainly have been achieved had the students actually sat their exams. There were some stunning individual successes with three students achieving a record 11 grade 9’s each (Hazel Salter, Ashley Alam and Brooke Clifton), and one student achieving 11 grade 9’s and 1 grade 8 (Kate Briggs) – fantastic!

In terms of progress, eleven students performed at an average of over 2 grades higher than expected, given their prior attainment from KS2 – superb!

All in all, every single student should be very pleased with their efforts and even if a handful of students are a little unhappy with their results, we will support them in any way possible. We currently have well in excess of 100 Harton students enrolling to join our wonderful sixth form in September.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our year 11 cohort the very best for the future and I sincerely hope that we are able to celebrate in style in December at the much delayed Leavers’ Prom!

Very best wishes,

Sir Ken
