Mass Testing for our Year 6 parents only

Dear Parents/Carers of next year’s Year 7 students

COVID-19 Mass Testing Plans, September 2021

We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students to Harton next year, and am sure they are excited, if a little nervous, about joining us in their new school. Please be reassured that we will have everything in place to help them settle as quickly as possible, even more so in light of the past 16 months we have all endured.

As we do not have all the email addresses of our new students who have just left their primary schools, I am sending this letter about our plans for mass testing, that the Government has asked us to do. My apologies if you are one of the few who may already have received an email, seeking your consent. Before we are able to ask your child to self-test for COVID-19, under the supervision of trained staff, on Monday 6 September 2021, we need your consent. If you do not consent for your child to self-test, please do not worry; they can still come to school, as this is a voluntary testing process. As you will appreciate, mass testing is designed to identify people who have Coronavirus but do not have symptoms (asymptomatic). If you are asymptomatic, you can still pass on the infection to others. The Government’s Mass Testing regime is to break the chain of infection from asymptomatic carriers of the virus.

Your consent must be received, and the link, here, can be copied into your internet browser. Equally, the link is on our website (MASS TESTING CONSENT FOR OUR YEAR 6 PARENTS ONLY) for you to access. Completing this online consent form will take no more than two minutes:

Here is a brief reminder of September’s testing programme – full details to follow in the coming weeks:

Year group Test 1 (students only onsite for testing) Date and time of their full return
Year 7 Monday 6 September – morning (no uniform needed) Tuesday 7 September – 8.30am (in uniform)

Tuesday 7 September 2021

  • Our new Year 7s will be joining us on this day at 8.30am. They will be involved in various activities throughout the day.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind your child of our uniform standards, which include general appearance, such as no jewellery and appropriate haircuts and hair colour, as well as our expectations regarding behaviour.

Please be aware that our IT facilities will be undergoing essential maintenance work over the holidays, so we may not always respond as efficiently to any queries you may have. Please do bear with us.

I will be holding a series of welcome-back assemblies with every year group in the first two days back.

In closing, all that remains is for me to wish you and your loved ones a peaceful summer holiday, and we are looking forward to seeing you all again in September.
