Open Evening on Thursday 7 October
Harton Academy Open Evening, 7 October 2021
Over the coming weeks, you will be making the very important choice of secondary school education for your child. At Harton, we always try to provide prospective parents and carers with the fullest possible information as well as with opportunities to visit the school itself.
We would therefore like to invite you to our Open Evening on Thursday 7 October. The school will be open from 6.00pm until 8.00pm. Your visit will include a presentation from me, when I will introduce some key members of staff to you and your child. Due to the pandemic, we are keen to ensure all visitors and staff feel as safe as possible. Therefore, there will be four separate presentations in our Main Hall during the course of the evening. If you do not receive a letter from us via your child’s primary school with a specific invitation to a presentation, we ask that you come along to the 7.30pm slot on the evening of the 7 October, please. The letter from us should have reached you by Friday 1 October at the latest. The timing of the 7.30pm presentation means you will have already had a good look around the school by then. An announcement will be made at 7.25pm to remind you to make your way to the Main Hall.
Our 1936 Building holds the humanities subjects (English, Modern Foreign Languages, ICT, Geography, History, Social and Cultural Studies, Music, Physical Education and Art) and the new Technology Block holds Maths, Design Technology and Science, as well as our extremely successful Sixth Form. Coffee, tea and juice will also be available in the dining area all evening.
Despite many restrictions having been lifted, we are keen to demonstrate that we take our visitors’ and staff safety extremely seriously. We would, therefore, appreciate it if you will consider wearing a face covering during your visit. We have also decided to limit the number of visitors at any one time. Therefore, we ask that only two adults attend, along with your child, of course!
In addition to the School Open Evening, we also produce a prospectus for reference, which can be collected from the school when you visit. You may also wish to visit our website to gain a fuller picture of the range of opportunities available to our students, both academically and in extra-curricular activities.
I also need to bring to your attention the car-parking situation on the school site. We have a large car park, accessible from Lisle Road. We do ask parents not to park in the side streets around the school. Please use the marked bays provided within the school grounds. Thank you in anticipation.
If you are unable to attend this event, and would like to visit us at another time, or if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the school by telephone or email: email@example.com
A recording of my presentation will be made available after the event for those families unable to join us on the 7 October.
We are looking forward to welcoming you and your child to Harton.
With every good wish to you and your loved ones.
