Remembrance Service 2018
Today, Harton has marked the centenary of the Armistice in our annual Remembrance Service assemblies and we were delighted to welcome members of the neighbourhood from local care homes, as we do every year. We are extremely honoured that our special guest, Mr Harold Yeoman, was able to visit us this morning, too. Harold was in the first ever year group on this school site, when he joined us in 1936. He went on to serve our country, completing 14 raids over Europe in a Wellington Bomber. I would like to offer my personal appreciation to every member of our school community for helping to ensure Harton acknowledges this occasion with the dignity and respect it deserves.
It is so very important that our students fully appreciate the on-going sacrifices made by so many from our armed services. Having Harold and our elderly friends visit us, providing pupils with a multitude of personalised stories and information on our Remembrance Trail around the school, can only serve as a poignant reminder of this.
