Year 8 ‘Meet the tutor’ Parents’ Evening

Dear Parent/Carer

Year 8 ‘Meet the tutor’ Parents’ Evening

I would like to extend to you a warm invitation to visit the school on the evening of Wednesday 17 November. This will be the occasion of the Year 8, ‘Meet the Tutor’, Parents’ evening.

The evening is an opportunity to provide you with feedback about how your child has settled into Year 8. This is particularly important, given the constraints of the pandemic on your child’s Year 7 experience with us. Discussions will be led by Year 8 tutors and/or a member of our Equal Opportunities Department. At this stage, the meetings will not focus on academic performance; we will be primarily updating you on your child’s personal development.

If you would like to attend, please ask your child to arrange an appointment time for you with their tutor and/or Mrs Wall, our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. Appointments will be available from 3:30pm-6:00pm, in five-minute intervals. Students will be issued with appointment times and we would urge you to ensure that your allocated time is convenient. If you are unavailable on this date, and would like feedback, please contact the main school office, and we will be able to provide you with appropriate contact details for your child’s tutor and/or Mrs Wall.

Form tutors will be based on the ground floor of the 1936 Building, and Mrs Wall, and members of her SEN team, will be in our Inclusion Resource Base. Despite some of the COVID-19 protective measures having been reintroduced by us on the advice of Public Health, we are still keen to meet with you, and can assure you that we take our visitors’ and staff safety extremely seriously. We would therefore ask that all visitors wear a face covering during their visit, and sanitise their hands, when entering the school building. Classrooms will be well ventilated, so please do wear a warm coat! We have also decided to limit the number of visitors at any one time. Therefore, we ask that only two adults attend, along with your child, of course! We are required to keep a register of attendance; could you please sign the registers as you arrive at the Main Reception area of the 1936 Building?

May we remind you that it is the responsibility of all parents/carers to keep the school informed of any changes to contact and medical details for your child? If there have been any changes to these details, please let your child’s tutor know during your appointment.

If you have any questions about the evening, please contact Mrs Mulligan, Acting Head of Year 8, via email:

Many thanks for your continued support.

Yours Sincerely

Mr D Amos
Acting Head Teacher
