Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award practice expeditions
In the searing heat on the bank holiday weekend record numbers of 6th form students completed their training of the expedition section of the award at both silver and gold level. Some students had completed the bronze and silver sections previously but for many it was their first time and certainly a learning experience. The groups camped for two nights and had two long walks learning key camp craft and navigation skills in the beautiful Teesdale area near High Force waterfall. The students all did themselves proud over the weekend especially as the weather made it even more challenging. I am sure they are all now looking forward to the qualifying expeditions which will be in Northumberland for the silver groups in June and the Lake District for the gold group in September.
Well done to all involved and thanks to all the staff who give so generously of their time to allow this great opportunity to be offered.
