Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Evening

For the first time in many years twenty four students were presented with their bronze certificate and badge at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award evening hosted at Harton. It was lovely to celebrate the students success in front of family members and staff and to see so many students complete the award. There are record numbers currently involved at all levels including gold and there will be many more in the near future who will also complete the award. There are currently over 60 students signed up for the bronze award in year 10 and they will be completing their two expeditions over the coming months in Northumberland. As it has been for many years the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme continues to be the most valued award outside of academic qualifications and it certainly gives students an edge when it comes to future progression. It is not only enjoyable and gives people the chance to meet and work with new people but also develops key skills such as teamwork, leadership and decision making as well as developing resilience, independence and confidence. We look forward seeing the scheme continue to flourish and we aim to offer the opportunity to as many students as possible in the future.
