England V Canada - Twickenham Trip

Fourteen girls from Harton Academy’s U15’s Rugby team travelled down to Twickenham to watch the Red Roses in the final of the Old Mutual Wealth Cup, where England won convincingly, scoring many excellent individual and team tries. April, one of our year 10 students, had the opportunity to be a mascot for the match, running out onto the pitch alongside the England team, and singing the national anthem before the match. 100+ Harton Academy students set to change South Tyneside ne

Students at Harton Academy in South Shields have been flocking to reserve places on a transformative programme that enables young people to develop vital skills and make a difference to the local community. Since delivering an assembly to the year 11s on November 13, National Citizen Service (NCS) has been inundated with applications from students at the school, with over 100 teenagers signing up to take part in the government-backed programme, which will see them organise community projects during the summer holidays. Dylan creates grotto to raise funds for St Clare’s Hospice

Dylan joined Harton Academy from Westoe Crown Primary school in September 2017. For the last five years Dylan has dedicated the winter time to raising money for charity by converting his bedroom into a grotto for local residents to visit. During this five year period he has raised a large amount of money for charities in the local area. He has also completed numerous fund raising events during the year, including tombola’s and raffles. Year 9 student receives award from the Royal Geographical So

Scott, a Year 9 student from Harton Academy has received an award from the Royal Geographical Society as part of the Young Geographer of the Year award. The Young Geographer of the Year is a national competition run by the Royal Geographical Society (with Institute of British Geographers (IBG)) to encourage pupils to engage with geographical issues. University of Cambridge’s HE+ programme

On Tuesday 8 November Harton hosted the inaugural launch event for the University of Cambridge’s HE+ programme. This event, which had over 120 attendees from nine 6th Forms from South Tyneside, Gateshead and North Tyneside, is the first part of a 3 part programme designed to stretch the most academically able Year 12 students in the region as they prepare to apply to university next year....
