Dear Parent/Carer

As part of our on-going provision of quality, impartial careers education, we would like to invite you and your son/daughter to our annual ‘Routes to Employment: Higher Education’ event, aimed at those students aspiring to a university education, which will be held at the school on Thursday 12 October 2017, 6.30pm-8.00pm.

We are pleased to confirm that staff from a number of the local universities, including Durham, Newcastle, Northumbria, Sunderland and Teesside will be attending, in addition to relevant school staff and a representative from Connexions, South Tyneside. They will provide advice and guidance on Higher Education opportunities and answer any questions that you might have about university, including student finance.

In addition, we have also invited a number of different professionals to the event to talk to you and your child in an informal setting about their work and how to get into it. We are still finalising the list of attendees, but we have confirmation from individuals from a wide range of different sectors including: Engineering, Finance, Chemical Engineering, Music, Event Management, Marketing and Charity Work.

The evening will be held in our Main Hall and will include presentations from school staff and Northumbria University before you will be given the chance to speak to the university representatives and professionals attending on a 1-1 basis.

I do hope that you and your son/daughter are able to join us for what promises to be an exciting and informative event; invaluable to your child’s transition decisions. I would be obliged if you could indicate whether you will be attending by sending an email, with your son or daughter’s name and tutor group to:
