Safety Measures

Dear parents, carers and students

The following images illustrate some of the lengths we have gone to at Harton in order to make the school as safe as possible.

As you will see, we have invested in thermal imaging cameras in both of the main entrances (1936 building and 6th form building), which are designed to detect if anyone has an excessive temperature.

We have touch-free door releases and hand sanitiser available throughout the school. The school has been deep-cleaned once again this week, and every classroom has tape around the teacher’s desk to indicate a safe distance for both teacher and students.

There are signs, including digital signage around the school, and as advised, toilets have been allocated based on the year group bubbles. There are separate entrances/exits for the year groups which are colour-coded and match the files which students will receive next week. There will be a very strict one-way system around the school for students and staff.

We have done our very best to ensure that the year group bubbles are in separate parts of the school and where this is not 100% possible, there will be staggered arrivals and dismissals, and very close staff supervision.

We will be reviewing the face mask guidance once we see how it operates next week, but would actively encourage staff and students to have a mask available for corridors and communal areas.

Finally, as you will be aware, we are awaiting instructions from Nexus about the times of the buses to and from Harton Academy.

I am looking forward to welcoming staff and students back next week and hope that the images provided offer some form of reassurance to all concerned.

Many thanks and very best wishes,

Sir Ken
