Why study this subject?

The course is designed to offer students the opportunity to study, propose and realise prototype solutions closely linked to the real world of product manufacture.

Materials, Components and Applications, Learning through Designing and Making, Design and Making Practice.

Further Education: Art Foundation courses, BTEC National Diplomas.

Higher Education: Architecture, Animation, 3D Design, Product Design, Engineering, Jewellery and Silversmithing, Model making for Design and Media, Furniture design, Interior Design, Industrial design degree courses.

Which other subjects complement this subject?

English Language & Literature, History and Drama are useful Maths, Physics, IT Diploma, Art and Design.

Subject specific requirements?

Students require at least a 5/6 for GCSE or equivalent in Product Design, Resistant Materials, Systems and Control, Graphic products, along with the necessary work ethic and time commitment.
