Meet the team
Laura is a Lead Practitioner in MFL, with French as her specialist subject. She also teaches Spanish at Key Stage 3. She has delivered INSET on a range of teaching and learning foci to colleagues both school and LA-wide. She is heavily involved in teacher training, writing and delivering training programmes for trainee teachers of MFL, as well as working alongside SLE and Lead Practitioner colleagues on the planning and delivery of generic teaching and learning INSET. For the last two years, Laura has been Professional Tutor to Carmel trainee teachers at her home school of Harton Technology College.
David has been Deputy Head Teacher at Harton Technology College since September 2010. Up until July 2015, he was seconded to two schools in the Northeast, where he supported school improvement over time. He is now back at Harton in a full-time capacity, where he is strategic lead for the Teaching School and KS4 Attainment. Along with his teaching commitments, David leads on all matters relating to CPD, Performance Management, Initial Teacher Training and Specialist Leader of Education Core training. He became an SLE himself in 2012.
Kiera has worked in education since 2001 and has taught at Harton Technology College since 2011. She has worked with ITT students since 2004, first as a mentor and moving on to become Professional Tutor at Harton in 2013 working with Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham Universities. Kiera has been heavily involved in the School Direct course offered at Harton since 2014, working with both primary and secondary phase alliance schools and their student teachers in strategic and operational capacities.
Sophie is part of the ITT team at Harton Technology College. She has, for the past five years, been NQT Co-ordinator and is also one of the three Professional Tutors. Across both of these roles, Sophie plans and delivers training, and supports trainees in-house, and across the alliance.
Stef De Giorgio
Stef is coordinator for the Harton Teaching Schools Alliance, School Direct programme. Stef is responsible for managing the administration of the course, and is heavily involved in the administration of the whole training year as well as the recruitment process. She will deal with queries concerning applications, school experience days, interviews, pre-course information and financial matters and support the team with the overall operational running of the training year.
