S2S Support
School to School Support
Harton Academy has access to an exceptional pool of skilled staff to support the raising of standards in schools across the region. The Executive Head Teacher of Harton is a National Leader of Education (NLE) who has supported leadership and whole school improvement in four local schools. Our acting Head Teacher was the first senior leader in the region to be designated Regional System Leader. Our partner, Mortimer Primary School whose Head Teacher is also a Regional System leader takes the strategic lead for primary developments providing additional expertise and capacity. Adding further leadership and staff development capacity is a team of 23 Specialist Practitioners (including 21 designated as Specialist Leaders of Education (SLES) during our time as a Teaching School) and from a range of schools, subjects and phases.
As the only designated Training School in the North East, Harton Academy has six senior staff previously accredited by the National College of Teaching and Leadership to deliver core training to SLEs designated by Teaching Schools across the region and to date have trained almost 700 SLEs from across the region.
Building on this, Harton Academy is able to consider on request, provision of this training to any staff appointed to carry out school to school deployments and cross school support helping them to
- Understand the current climate involving school-to-school support
- Appreciate the importance of an emotional intelligence
- Build a toolkit of skills to provide effective school to school support
- Prepare for a deployment
