Mass Testing and Return of Students

Dear Parents/Carers/Students

Consent Form for COVID-19 Asymptomatic Mass Testing from 8 March 2021

As you are now aware, schools are due to return in full from the 8 March 2021. As part of this re-opening programme, we have been asked to partake in asymptomatic mass testing for Coronavirus, which means three in-school tests for you (if you are aged 16 and above) or your child (if they are under 16 years of age). Much of this letter’s content is from the Government, and has been designed to ensure that all the necessary information is collected for consent and online test subject registration purposes. Therefore, we have been told that we must not remove some of the information below.

  • Read the Terms of Consent, below, before you complete the Consent Form
  • Complete the Consent Form by Friday 26 February 2021. It can be found HERE
  • Note, there is a Privacy Statement on our website, and can be found HERE

If we do not receive consent by 3 March 2021, then we will assume that your consent has not been given. Therefore, your child will not be tested for Coronavirus, and they will not be able to benefit from the subsequent home-testing kits for further self-testing as the term progresses. The in-school testing regime is designed to act as a ‘training’ for the students to carry out their own tests at home later on in the term.

Exact details of when your child will have their three tests, starting in the week beginning 8 March, will be shared very soon.

The general outline plan for the mass testing of all students for whom we have consent is as follows:

Mass Testing and Return of Students

Please note, the students must continue with home learning arrangements prior to their return to school. On the days they come into school for their first test, they will not be set home learning tasks, but will be encouraged to use that time for consolidation of their work.

Information about how your child will take their test can be found HERE. It is a quick and easy process, and trained staff are on-hand to support and reassure your child.

We are looking forward to seeing your child back in school and remain committed to doing all we can to support them in achieving the best they can during their time at Harton. Please do urge your child to continue to focus on their home learning between now and their full return.

In closing, please accept our thanks for your fabulous support during this past year.

Very best wishes.

Yours faithfully
Sir Ken Gibson
