Health and Social Care

Key Stage 4

BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Health and Social Care.

The Health and Social Care sectors employ 1 in 10 of the working population (The King’s Fund) and the importance and value of these occupations has been emphasised over the course of the pandemic.

This course offers students a unique opportunity to discover the key principles and values that underpin Health, Social Care and the Early Years professions.

Students will not only develop skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to the world of health, social care and early years; they will also have the opportunity to apply their learning in a practical and realistic way. Each unit within the qualification is designed to develop communication skills, independent learning, team work and an in depth understanding of health and social care issues. Candidates will study three units, two of which are internally assessed and the third will be assessed through a formal assessed task in year 11.

The different components of the course are:

  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Health and Social Care Services and Values
  • Health and Wellbeing

Successful completion of the course will allow students to progress to a wide range further education and employment opportunities in the Health and Social care sector and Children’s Workforce.
