Why study this subject?

Today’s world sees young people producing and consuming media forms like never before. Media Studies helps pupils make sense of this world, become discerning consumers, and be prepared not just for a career in the media, but for a growing variety of careers that require critical and analytical skill or media literacy.

What will the subject include?

The A level units combine practical work with theory and examine aspects of print and audio-visual media. Students will utilise new facilities to create their own media productions.
Topics include: Television, Radio, Film, Music, Newspaper, Magazine (including comics), Advertising, Computer Games, DVD covers, Websites.

Where will it lead?

Media, Journalism, Photography, Film, Radio, Television, Public Relations or on the path to a degree in numerous subjects.
