National Three Peaks Challenge

A team of staff from Harton Academy are going to be attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge in August 2023 to raise funds for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme.

The aim will be to climb all three peaks, and to do this, including the driving, in under 24 hours will certainly be a challenge! Mr Scott has kindly agreed to be the driver and support for the challenge, and hopefully we can raise a good amount in the process, which will open up opportunities for more students at Harton Academy. Good luck everyone!

A few years ago, a fund was established in memory of Mr Alan Williams, to support students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Mr Williams led on various expeditions and he was incredibly passionate about developing young people and fostering a love for the great outdoors and adventure activities. Over £3000 has already been raised through the Go Fund Me page https://gofund.me/15135982 set up in Alan’s memory and we are keen to try and boost this fund if possible.

We are keen to offer this opportunity to as many young people as we can and over the past few years the school has invested in training staff and buying additional equipment. Our aim is to reduce the cost of the scheme and boost the uptake from students. We have recently invested in two kit bags customised with Mr Williams’ trademark Hawaiian shirt on.

If you are able to donate at all, it would be greatly appreciated.
