Wellbeing Award for Schools

Harton Academy is celebrating after successfully completing the Wellbeing Award for Schools reassessment.

This award is part of a national scheme developed in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau, and recognises the school’s focus on mental health and wellbeing.

Acting Headteacher Mr Amos said that Harton Academy wishes ‘to provide an outstanding education for the students and to be a beacon of hope for the community. We believe that positive emotional health and wellbeing are the cornerstones to becoming well-rounded and successful individuals who contribute positively to society.’

Receiving the ‘Wellbeing Award’ is not a straightforward task, it’s not a tick-boxing exercise but a vigorous process that involves the school demonstrating, through evidence, a range of aspects relating to wellbeing.

To achieve the award, the school must demonstrate active promotion of staff wellbeing, a positive culture that ensures emotional wellbeing and mental health is regarded as the responsibility of all, and training for staff to offer high-quality, ongoing professional development so staff feel confident responding to pupils’ mental health needs.

We are delighted to be awarded the reassessment verification and are committed to promoting and supporting mental health across the school community moving forwards.
