Year 11 Prom
Beamish Hall’s elegant Winter Garden room was once again a beautiful backdrop for the Year 11 Prom, held this year on 4 July and attended by almost 200 Year 11 students, over 40 teaching, associate and support staff.
Seeing such numbers of staff and students share this extraordinary event, demonstrates the high levels of commitment and team-work which are cornerstones of Harton Academy’s ethos. The atmosphere was as magical as the venue, made even more stunning by the excellent décor choices the Prom Committee made, including a classic gold and white colour scheme for the table centrepieces.
The ladies were truly stunning and wore breath-taking dresses, in a range of colours and styles as diverse as their personalities. The gentlemen, as debonair as the occasion demanded, more than held their own and wore beautifully tailored suits with an air of sophistication which matched the beautiful surroundings. The delicious food was served with style and throughout the entire evening, venue staff worked tirelessly to ensure the students had a fabulous evening.
As this was Sir Ken’s last attendance at a Prom as Executive Head Teacher, staff and pupils gave him a standing ovation, a fitting and heart-felt tribute to mark 40 years of service to the school. At this point, the disco began and the dance floor was full for the remainder of the night, with iconic songs such as Mr Brightside, getting even the most-shy students to their feet. It was a wonderful and memorable event in every regard and a fitting end to their time at Harton Academy. We wish all our Year 11’s the very best for the future and look forward to welcoming them in school on results day in August and to our 6th Form in September.
