Year 13 Geography Trip to London

IMG_5677Our year 13 geography students visited the East End of London on Wednesday 16th February. Despite the early start (0640!), students were in high spirits upon departure from Sunderland station.

The students were focussing upon urban regeneration with the first stop being the Museum of the London Docklands at Canary Wharf. Here, they learnt about the former function of the area and the transition from the historic Port of London to modern day financial centre.

A quick Docklands Light Railway journey took students to the Olympic Park area where they enjoyed a tour of the stadium now occupied by West Ham United with some of the students displaying their football allegiance!

Our final port of call was the Westfield centre at Stratford (sadly there was insufficient find for an extended shopping trip) before our return to Kings Cross.

The students were an absolute credit to themselves and the school throughout what was a very long day!
