A Level Results 2023

We are delighted with the Year 13s’ A Level results this year! They are the final cohort of students who were unable to sit their GCSEs due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, so these examination results were the first formal exams they had sat since Year 6, when they did their SATs! They have shown superb resilience over the two years of their A Level courses, and there are notable successes. Harton has always emphasised the fabulous post-18 progression routes available to our students, and this year’s results will ensure they continue to flourish in their next steps, leaving us for new and exciting challenges.
We recognise the hard work and commitment that the students and staff have put in, and a large percentage of them are now moving onto their chosen progression pathway. Many have secured places at universities all over the UK and some will be starting apprenticeships, school-leaver programmes or taking time to gain additional experiences and to consider their options. It has been a pleasure seeing the students develop not just academically but into well-rounded young people who will make a positive contribution to society in the future.

We believe the class of 2023 will have developed many supplementary skills and qualities through all the additional challenges they have faced and that this will stand them in good stead in the future. In addition to the academic success, we have also had record numbers of students achieve both the Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards. We also had a team of students recently complete an amazing expedition to Morocco, which included summiting Mount Toubkal, star gazing and camel riding in the Sahara Desert. It is great that so many students embrace the opportunities and experiences that are offered at the 6th form and we know that students will look back positively and will have lasting memories.

2023 has also been one of the strongest years in terms of positive future progression with over 75% of the year moving onto Higher Education. At present over 40% have secured places at research-led Russell Group Universities. There is an incredibly diverse range of courses that students are moving onto, including Sports Science, Engineering, Criminology, Law, Accounting and Finance, Economics, Nursing, Medicine, Music, Para-medic science, Sciences and many more. It is also great to see students spreading their wings and moving all over the UK.

We would all like to wish the students all the very best in the next stage of their lives and look forward to catching up with students at the Presentation Evening in December.
