Punctuality in the new academic year

Dear Parent/Carer(s),

RE: Punctuality in the new academic year 2023/2024

As you are aware, the school day commences at 8.30am. Students are expected to be in their form classes by 8.30am at the latest. It is vital that students attend school on time; form time includes many important activities, such as the Personal Development Programme, discussions about mental health, diversity and discrimination, as well as applications for apprenticeships and college. Please encourage your child to be prompt.

If a student is late to school (8.40am) they will automatically receive a 30-minute after-school detention the following day. Parents/carers will be informed by text if their child was late to school and that their child will receive a detention for the following day. If you have any queries regarding the detention please do not hesitate to contact the attendance team (attendance@hartonacademy.co.uk) or 0191 4274050 ext.202/401.

Detentions will only be cancelled if the reason for lateness is classed as exceptional. While we appreciate there can be unavoidable reasons for such occurrences, we do hope you support the school in our endeavours to ensure the highest possible punctuality standards at Harton Academy.

We look forward to welcoming all students back to school in September 2023 at 8:30am.

Please accept my very best wishes to you and your loved ones – have a great summer!

Yours sincerely,

Mr D Amos
Acting Headteacher.
